• The Chaplet of the Holy Face of Jesus is a beautiful devotion, turning one’s mind to meditate on the humanity of Jesus. The chaplet is composed of a cross and 39 beads. The 33 grouped beads represent the thirty-three years of Christ’s mortal life. The first 3 beads recall the 30 years of our Blessed Lord’s hidden life. There are then five groupings of 7 beads, each of which represent one of the senses of the Lord, the order is TOUCH, HEARING, SIGHT, SMELL, and TASTE. The Glory be is recited seven times throughout in honor of the seven last words of Jesus upon the cross, and the Seven Sorrows of Our Lady of Sorrows. This chaplet is prayed for reparation.
• This devotion began in the 19th century A.D. when our Blessed Lord appeared to Sister Marie of St. Peter, and requested that a devotion to His Holy Face be established.
• The image on the other page, is the Holy Face of Jesus from the Shroud of Turin. The vernation of the Holy Face of Jesus; however, began with the sacred image of Our Lord on St. Veronica's Veil and the Image of Edessa delivered by St. Jude. Both show the Face of Christ, but have faded, only to been seen on occasion of miracles. Only the Shroud still shows His Face.
• Due to the miracles, Pope Leo XIII established the devotion as an Archconfraternity for the entire world, of which Saint Therese of Lisieux and her family were members. She was so faithful to this devotion that she took as her religious name, "St. Therese of the Child Jesus and of the Holy Face."
